Our SFI Commitment
Finch Paper LLC has a written policy, endorsed by company president Joseph F. Raccuia, stating that:
Finch Paper LLC is committed to implementing and achieving the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Standard (2010-2014 Edition) for its land management, wood procurement and chain-of-custody programs to broaden the practice of sustainable forestry.
Finch Paper LLC employs scientifically, environmentally, socially and economically sustainable forestry practices to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. This is accomplished by practicing and promoting a land stewardship ethic that integrates reforestation, growing, and harvesting of trees for useful products with the conservation of soil, air and water quality, biological diversity, wildlife and aquatic habitat, recreation and aesthetics.
Finch Paper LLC’s SFI Policy is to implement and achieve the Principles of Sustainable Forest Management including: practicing sustainable forestry, employing responsible practices, regenerating the forest and maintaining productive capacity, protecting and maintaining long-term forest and soil productivity, protecting water resources, protecting special sites and biological diversity, complying with legal requirements, and continually improving forest practices.
To help implement and achieve the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Standard Principles, Objectives, Performance Measures and Indicators; Finch Paper LLC has developed and adopted appropriate programs and plans to guide its land management and wood procurement activities. These programs and plans are contained in the SFI Indicators and Evidence Manual and the Finch Paper LLC SFI Program.
Finch Paper LLC is committed to complying with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, including social laws, and will take appropriate steps to comply. The company is also committed to annually reviewing the effectiveness of its SFI Policy, Programs, and other procedures to continually improve performance.
The Chain of Custody Standards attests that Finch Paper tracks the source of all of the pulpwood purchased to make its products, and documents that the wood comes from sustainably managed sources. Finch Paper carries out a regular review of the Chain of Custody Standard and its compliance with that Standard.
