Our mill by the falls.

Built in 1865

Our company was started in 1865

Our history.

It was 1865 when three enterprising New Yorkers went out on a limb and started Finch, Pruyn, a business turning homegrown logs into highly coveted lumber for a nation rebuilding from the Civil War. Forty years later they turned their attention to papermaking, with a recipe for success that continues to serve us well.

What we do today.

At Finch Paper LLC, we make about 700 tons of high-quality uncoated text & cover, opaque, and digital papers each day. Finch papers are well-known for their formation, smoothness, brightness and opacity, all of which adds up to superior on-press performance and printed materials. And our customer service is based on a simple principle. Be accurate and fast—very fast—and answer “yes” to customer inquiries.

But if there’s anything we’re as committed to as much as service, it’s sustainable forestry. For more than a century we owned our forests and employed our own foresters to keep them healthy. Now we work the same forests for The Nature Conservancy. Together we’re committed to helping provide certified wood for Finch Paper, a diversity of wildlife habitat, and clean air and water today and for generations to come.
