Star Quality

When it came time for BET Networks to create their 2010 Upfront Kit they needed a paper that mirrored the vibrance and energy of their offerings. The substantial piece was printed on Finch Fine, Bright White, 70 lb. text, 80 lb. cover, and 130 lb. double-thick cover. “We really liked the smoothness and quality of Finch Fine,” said Noelle Mullins of BET.

We are always proud of Finch Fine text and cover, but this particular piece gave us a shot of star power.

Finch Fitness

Getting fit can be hard. It requires motivation, time, resources and support, not to mention a way to avoid boredom. The impediments to making it a priority come from all angles, so you need a plan. Maple Ave Boxing created an invitation to participate that answered the usual fitness questions and more. Creating visual elements that promoted the sport of boxing, while communicating the connection to getting fit opened their business to a whole new audience.

The designer of the piece, David Braddock, explained, “My Clampitt Paper spec rep brought great printed samples and Finch has a great price point!” We like to think of Finch Paper as being fit, able to accomodate both price and quality. A TKO!

Rewarding the Team

We have been running the Finch is in the House campaign for the better part of 2010. Our first incentive period ended with Gregory Linton winning a MacBook Pro. Our second of three incentives, has reached another triumphant close. On August 30th, a name was drawn by Finch Paper General Sales Manager, Mike Bean with Beth Povie, Marketing Communications Manager, standing by at the Finch office in downtown Glens Falls, New York.

The winning entry, selected via a random drawing, was from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. After talking with CHOP we have redesigned the reward to better accommodate the organization.

Finch Paper will conduct an on-site seminar for the CHOP creative team to examine how paper is made, the ways that paper affects design and techniques to achieve the best printed results. As a company that uses Finch Paper frequently, we’ll also offer them an insider’s peek at how we produced the newest Finch Premium Blend promotion as well as the Finch Uncoated Guide.

Above and beyond the seminar, we are pleased to be donating $1,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

We send our sincerest congratulations to the incredible team at CHOP!

Details to Paper

“The palest ink is better than the sharpest memory.”

Chinese Proverb

Thanks to Bob’s Your Uncle, you can use ink or lead to commit to paper all the things your memory might lose. The planner is printed on Finch Fine Vanilla, 80# Text.

Martin and Michelle Yeeles are the creative minds behind Bob’s Your Uncle. Originally from England, they are now based out of Boston, MA and like to print all of their products in the USA using paper that has an environmental concern. Our favorite, they “just plain like the vanilla!”

Sweet!

The Arundel Preserve

a 268-acre mixed-use community located in the heart of the Baltimore-Washington Corridor, which is part of the 1,100-acre Arundel Mills Development. This is a neo-classical community with stringent architectural controls, where one can live, work, shop, play and raise a family all in the same community. ARUNDEL PRESERVE is smart growth at its best, and it is the standard for mixed-use development against which all others are judged.

The collateral for The Hotel at Arundel Preserve was designed by Carol Vaughn of Hirshorn Zuckerman Design Group Inc. The project only called for 1,000 copies, so Vaughn elected to use Finch Fine iD 100 lb. text on a HP Indigo digital press. “This is the best looking and economical paper we use,” said Vaughn.

Hats off to Hirshorn Zuckerman Design Group Inc. for minding the project’s bottom line while preserving the quality of the final printed product.

Farm Fresh

Good things really do come in small packages.

The Farm Boy Co-op & Feed Company’s Farm Boy® Farm Girl® Brand Catalog arrived in a soft ecru sack and revealed a use of Finch Opaque that evoked feelings of sunny days, with the wind in your hair, the earth in your hands and fresh, home cooked meals on a farm table.

The designer, David Nisi, said, “We chose Finch for its opacity, selection of weights, and finish. We wanted a paper that would work well with our color photography, brand feel and fit within our budget.”

We say, “Farm life looks pretty swell to us!”

It doesn’t get much more classically American than Ralph Lauren. As the Fourth of July approaches it makes sense to feature a piece rich with red, white and blue.

Ralph Lauren was looking to create a piece that had the look and feel of a newspaper, to accomplish this end they selected Finch Offset, 50#.

The result was a product that people looked forward to thumbing through.

Enjoy your Independence Day weekend! If you encounter beautiful design, send in your pictures!
