Design FTW

We started the Finch is in the House Call For Samples last year. There were the iPad winners and the MacBook Pro winner, the Adirondack Creative Retreat that became a private, on-site seminar for an entire creative team,  and the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure trip winner. We’ve discovered that in addition to making quality paper that we sell at a very competitive price, we also like seeing what designers do with the aforementioned paper and then rewarding them with prizes.

Thanks to those who’ve already entered their work, some of which can be see above.

This time around we are giving away five gift cards for Design Within Reach in the amount of $500. That’s five chances to win. Give it a shot by sending in 10 samples of work you’ve printed on Finch Paper. Entries are being accepted through the 25th of July. The entry form is right here.

We can’t wait to make a winner out of you.

Reach for It

Few professions require individuals to work under an omnipresent ticking clock, the passing of each minute weighing on them and making the ever-growing need to focus that much harder. We can appreciate the cumulative effect of deadlines on designers, so it’s with a gentle voice that we are reminding designers that another deadline is approaching.

Entries for the Design Within Reach $500 gift card promotion will be accepted through July 25th. There are five cards and you’ve already done the work needed to enter, so why not give it a whirl? Just send 10 samples of work printed on Finch Paper to us at:

Finch Paper LLC
Attention: Call For Samples

One Glen Street
Glens Falls, NY 12801

The entry form lives here. Your winnings live at DWR, until of course, you claim them and use them for your own design.

Victory Within Reach

Spring is bursting in the Adirondacks and opportunity is knocking for designers using Finch Paper as we enter the second incentive phase of the Finch is in the House promotion. The winner we drew in April received a trip to one of several destinations in the United States. Continuing in the vein of allowing designers to do what they do best, this incentive period will end with five designers receiving $500 gift cards to Design Within Reach.

Your gift card, your choice, simply send in 10 samples of work printed on Finch Paper and we’ll enter you in a drawing for one of 5 DWR gift cards that you can use to accessorize your space however you see fit. You design for others all the time, you deserve a little design for you.

Winner’s Guide

This afternoon we pulled a name at random from the entries in the Finch is in the House call for samples promotion. The winner was Kyle Cooper, Content Production Manager at the Cincinnati Art Museum. The piece he submitted was Circus Poster Family Guide, which was printed on Finch Fine, Ultra Smooth, Bright White, 65 lb. cover. “We chose Finch Paper for its quality and economy. This piece is meant to be written on, so we wanted an uncoated sheet.”

Congratulations, Kyle. Now you’ll get to enjoy the destination of your choice.

A Winning Trip

2011 has been a cold year for those of us in the Northeast, which is why we thought today would be a good day to reveal your potential destinations for the first Finch is in the House promotion for designers. The rules are the same as last year:

Simply submit 10 samples of a project printed on Finch Paper by April 25 and you’ll have the chance to win a getaway for two to one of the following destinations:

The Finch Lodge at Boreas Ponds: where roughing it and indulging come together in Adirondack splendor.

Set in a former print house, Ink 48 is located in Midtown Manhattan.

The W-Gate, in Washington, D.C., is “all about stately indulgence.”

The Wit Hotel in Chicago offers “panoramic views of the city, Lake Michigan, the Chicago River, and Millennium Park.”

Built in 1896 and offering modern-day eco-sensibility and luxury, Stonehurst Place redefines a visit to Atlanta.

“Classic meets hip at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, an upscale San Antonio Riverwalk hotel.”

“It’s LA modern meets country kitsch.” The Farmer’s Daughter in LA offers a fresh experience.

We understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So whether your dream getaway is urban or remote, posh or pristine, we hope we’ve given everyone an inspiring option.

The Time is Now

Now is the time to enter to win a visit here.

You’ll enjoy the view from here.

You’ll be able to take a walk under an inimitable Adirondack canopy.

Reclaim a taste of your youth hopping from rock to rock.

And all because you’ve done a great job. The only catch is you have to take action.

Show us what you’ve done with Finch and you might win a closer look at where Finch comes from. Entry form here.

Scale New Heights

The Finch is in the House call for samples is a way to put your creative team in the lodge.

The premise is simple, send in 10 samples of a project printed on Finch. Submissions we receive by the 8/27/2010 deadline will be entered into a drawing for an all expenses paid creative retreat for a creative team of up to 6 people at the Boreas Pond Lodge in New York’s Adirondack Park from September 17th-20th.

Doesn’t it look lovely?

Don’t those look inviting?

Don’t you think sending 10 samples is an easy route to paradise?

Just to recap: 10 samples printed on Finch sent in by August 27th could lead to 6 people enjoying 3 days at an Adirondack Lodge stocked with everything you need (less wireless) to getaway, recharge and rediscover your creative passion. We’ll draw a winner on August 30th.

And the winner is:

On June 7th, while the HOW Conference resource center was filling with a crowd of hungry designers, we drew a name for the first incentive period of the Finch is in the House campaign. The winner was Gregory Linton of the St. Louis Zoo. He submitted a piece called The Living Promise, which was printed on Finch Fine, Ultra Smooth, Bright White, 100 lb. Text.

Congratulations to Gregory! And good luck to all of you entering the second incentive of the Finch is in the House campaign—a creative retreat in the magnificent Adirondack Park in upstate New York. Click here for more details! Read more here for Gregory Linton’s Designer Commentary.

Mile High City

We made it to Denver, as did our booth—an environmental win for its composition:

Foam Core Alternative is Recyclable

The Finch exhibit at the HOW Conference is a standing structure printed on Enviroboard and supported by a wood easel-both materials are certified to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council and can be either reused or 100% recycled. EnviroBoard incorporates five plies of a proprietary Finch paper into a multidimensional, rigid and moisture proof composite board.

It felt genuinely amazing to be able to represent all of our values without compromising for promotion’s sake.

Our tote bags made the trip as well. They’ll be scattering this way and that. This one is off to Cheyenne, Wyoming with its new owner.

The last big thing on the agenda outside of talking to more fascinating conference attendees and exhibitors, is the MacBook Pro giveaway.

Did you enter? Did you know we have another giveaway coming? If you aren’t with us here in Denver, maybe you’ll end up in our neck of the woods with our Boreas Ponds giveaway. Stay tuned for more details!

Giveaway is set to happen in about an hour. Looking forward to posting the winner.

Cross the Finch Line

If you are familiar with Finch, then you know that we believe in toeing the line. Our focus is on making great uncoated paper, our approach is to accomplish our goals with less impact on the environment and with reduced costs in order to deliver the highest value to our customers. There are ways to incorporate fun into responsibility, which is why we have the Finch is in the House campaign.

Three separate incentives, with the first phase ending June 4th, that invite designers to submit 10 samples of a job they’ve designed and printed on Finch in exchange for being entered to win a MacBook Pro. There is no limit to the number of jobs a person can submit, the only requirements are:

Submission of 10 samples of the piece

Received by June 4th, 2010

Visit this link to download a submission form. Make haste, the call for entries for the MacBook Pro ends June 4th with the winner being announced June 7th at the HOW conference in Denver (need not be present to win, but imagine how fun that would be!)

Also, keep in mind that over the summer we’ll be accepting submissions that will put you in the running for an Adirondack retreat for your creative team of up to 6 people September 17-20. Stay tuned for an announcement for the fall/winter incentive. We’re hoping to see your work and continue to find new ways of making things fun and rewarding when Finch is in your house.
